Aaron Cheatham has more than 15 years of venture capital, investment
banking and operating experience and has worked with more than three
dozen start-up companies. Before founding ASC Advisory Services, Aaron spent eight years in the
venture capital industry. During the last two years, Aaron was a
general partner at JAFCO Ventures where he focused on following
top-tier venture capital firms by making early expansion-stage
investments in their emerging cleantech and information technology
companies. Prior to JAFCO, Aaron was a principal at Mobius Venture
Capital where he invested in early-stage communications infrastructure,
components and wireless technology companies. Aaron's venture capital
experience includes board member roles at Aprio Technologies (Blaze
DFM), Gtronix, Impinj and United Devices (Univa). He was also a board
observer at such companies as Calypto, Danger (Microsoft), Dantz
Development (EMC), HVVi Semiconductors, PocketThis, Quellan, SkyPilot
Networks, Symwave, Transilica (Microtune) and XaQti (Vitesse).
Aaron's financing acumen was developed in the investment banking
business, as a vice president with Merrill Lynch's Technology
Investment Banking Group where he helped raise more than $5 billion for
companies such as CyberSource, Internet Capital Group, Maxtor, PLX
Technology, Pivotal and STMicroelectronics and as a founding employee
of Epoch Partners, a technology-enabled investment bank formed through
partnerships with Ameritrade, Charles Schwab and TD Waterhouse.
Aaron began his career in Silicon Valley as a technical sales engineer
at Advanced Micro Devices, where he gained valuable operating
experience through his interaction with leading workstation
manufacturers and their contract manufacturers.
Aaron received his M.B.A. from the UCLA Anderson School of Management
with a focus on entrepreneurial studies and finance. He received his
Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Cornell
University where he concentrated in computer engineering including RISC
microprocessor architectures and network protocol design. He is an avid
fly fisherman and loves coaching soccer and fast pitch softball.
